It has been 18 months, a year and a half, since Rob Coenen and I lost our sweet son, Riley. We miss him every day and will never forget his bright smile, funny one-liners and all of the other wonderful things about him that we adore.
I want to take this time to explain something. I have not been on Facebook a lot this past year. It has been a tough time for me to see all of the FB Memories and to even see any pictures of Riley during this difficult time. Unfortunately, this is all a part of the ebbs and flows of the grief process.
In the beginning, I was able to share photos and explain the stories behind each of one of them. I wanted everyone to know all about Riley, even those that had never actually met him in person before he went to heaven. This is something we are still passionate about, just in a different way now. Instead of sharing photos that are so painful for me to see, we have been performing acts of kindness in Riley's name through our foundation, Riley's Rainbows.
Riley's Rainbows will forever be our passion, as it is our son's legacy, and the intent behind it is to spread as much love as possible throughout our community and beyond. Riley demonstrated to us how to show love in so many different ways which makes this foundation, and it's purpose, the perfect legacy for him.
We will be ramping up our toy drive again this year, to benefit local children's hospitals, at Bad Daddy's Burger Bar Restaurants. This year we will be expanding the toy drive to include each of the four locations in the Raleigh market. In addition, we will be selling Riley's Rainbows Christmas ornaments again this year to raise money for our cause.
Another exciting prospect to look out for sometime this year is a Riley's Rainbows Day at each of the Bad Daddy's Burger Bar locations throughout the entire company. This will include locations in CO, GA, OK, and SC in addition to the NC market. A percentage of the proceeds from Riley's Rainbows Day in each of these stores will go to Riley's Rainbows. We will announce more details as this event gets closer. We could not be more thankful to our Bad Daddy's Burger Bar family and all of their support!
I hope you will all remember to support Riley's legacy and the Riley's Rainbows Foundation this holiday season and beyond. Please know that with each act of kindness you perform our sweet Riley will be smiling down on you from heaven. #rememberingriley #rileysrainbows #randomactsforriley
